This bridal kimono, crafted using the traditional Kaga Yuzen technique, took two full years to complete.

We have named this special piece “Botan-Hana Saku”, meaning “Peony in Bloom.” The peony motif, which depicts a small bud blossoming into a large, magnificent flower, symbolizes the blossoming of life— making it a fitting design for a wedding, and an auspicious motif in Japanese tradition. With this kimono, we wished for the bride to step into her new life and bloom with beauty, strength, and joy.

Very few artisans today create bridal wear using Kaga Yuzen, so we had to design everything from scratch— from the sizing to the placement of the motifs. It was a painstaking process, but one filled with care and meaning. We invite you to experience the story and heartfelt wishes woven into every inch of this one-of-a-kind garment.

この特別な一着には「牡丹華（ボタンハナサク）」という名を贈りました。牡丹文様は、小さな蕾から大輪へと花開く様子から「人生の開花」を象徴し、結婚式にふさわしい吉祥文様とされています。人生の門出を迎える花嫁が、これからの人生を華やかに咲かせてほしいという願いを込めました。
加賀友禅で花嫁衣裳を手がける職人が極めて少ない中で、サイズや柄の配置を一から考える必要があり、完成までに長い時間を要しました。ぜひ、この一着に込めた想いをご覧ください。

For example, auspicious motifs such as peonies, cranes, and the trio of pine, bamboo, and plum were chosen to express heartfelt wishes for a prosperous future—symbolizing abundance, longevity, and marital harmony. As time went on, the wedding industry in Japan evolved, bringing significant changes to how weddings were celebrated.

Lavish ceremonies held at hotels and specialized venues became increasingly popular, and bridal attire grew more extravagant and dazzling in appearance. Weddings also began to include elaborate performances and surprises for guests, transforming the occasion into more of a spectacle—a stage to be seen.
たとえば、牡丹や鶴、松竹梅といった吉祥文様には、「豊かさ」「長寿」「夫婦円満」など、幸せな未来を願う想いが込められていました。 時代が進むにつれて、ウェディング産業の発展とともに、結婚式のスタイルも大きく変化していきます。ホテルや専門式場など、大規模な施設で行う華やかな結婚式が人気を集めるようになり、衣裳もより豪華で煌びやかなものが好まれるようになりました。ゲストへの演出やサプライズも増え、結婚式そのものが「見せる場」へと移り変わっていったともいえるでしょう。

Along with this shift in values, awareness around wedding attire has also begun to change.

Rather than choosing outfits simply for how they "stand out" or look impressive, more couples are seeking garments that carry meaning—something truly authentic and well-crafted. Kimono like Kaga Yuzen, each meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, are perfect expressions of these heartfelt wishes.The attire itself becomes a symbol of the bride’s resolve, as well as a gesture of gratitude toward her family.

It is now seen as part of the spirit of omotenashi—a way of showing sincere hospitality to loved ones.
その流れの中で、衣裳に対する意識にも変化が見られます。「映える」だけの衣裳ではなく、「意味が込められた、本当に良いものを身にまといたい」という想いを持つ人が増えつつあります。加賀友禅のように、一点一点が職人の手によって丁寧に作られた着物は、そうした想いを形にするのにふさわしい一着です。衣裳そのものが、花嫁の覚悟や家族への感謝の象徴となり、「おもてなし」の一環としての意味を持つようになってきています。

Each of these motifs is based on careful observation of the characteristics of plants and animals in the natural world, and reflects human hopes and ways of living through their symbolic meanings. Since ancient times, the Japanese have believed that the divine resides in nature— in trees, animals, the wind, and the water—and have lived with deep respect for these natural elements. This sense of gratitude and reverence toward nature is beautifully expressed in the patterns of kimono. In other words, these motifs carry prayers—asking nature to bless and protect the future of someone dear. That is why the patterns on a bridal kimono are not merely decorative. They are expressions of heartfelt wishes and culture—prayers woven into form.
これらの文様はすべて、自然界に存在する植物や動物の特徴をよく観察し、それを人の生き方や願いに重ね合わせたものです。日本人は古来より、自然の中に神が宿ると考え、草木や動物、風や水といった自然の存在に敬意を払って生きてきました。そんな自然に対する感謝や畏敬の念が、着物の柄として表現されているのです。言い換えれば、自然の力を借りて、大切な人の未来を祝福し、守ってほしいという祈りが込められているとも言えます。
